Speech by the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee on the Occasion of Teachers Day
It indeed a privilege for me to be present here and to address you on Teachers’ Day. I am happy to join you on this occasion when we recognise and celebrate the dedication of the teaching community in India.

It gives me great pleasure to be here today to confer the Second Tagore Award for Cultural Harmony for the year, 2013, to Maestro Zubin Mehta. I congratulate the eminent Jury for their unanimous choice.
I consider it a great privilege to be amongst you all in this beautiful temple city of Bhubaneswar, having a rich heritage and culture, to deliver the Second Convocation Address of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhubaneswar.
I am happy to be present here today on the occasion of the Convocation of the sixth batch of the students of Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), at Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan’s Institute of Communication and Management, Bhubaneshwar.
It is an honour for me to be present here today for the International Literacy Day, 2013. I compliment the National Literacy Mission Authority for organizing the celebrations marking this important occasion.
I am indeed delighted to meet you today to participate in this award ceremony.
