The President Releases Commemorative Postage Stamp on the India International Centre, New Delhi

The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil released the Commemorative Postage Stamp and First Day Cover on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the India International Centre, New Delhi (IIC) at Rashtrapati Bhavan on February 9, 2012. The IIC was inaugurated in 1962 by the then Vice-President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The Founder President of the Centre, Dr. C.D. Deshmukh wanted it to be a place where 'various currents of intellectual, political and economic thought could meet freely'.

Militancy Affected Children from All Districts of Jammu and Kashmir Meet The President

A group of more than 150 children affected by militancy in the State of Jammu and Kashmir met the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on February 11, 2012. The children were part of the Youth Exchange Programme called, "Waton Ko Jano" organized by the Jammu and Kashmir State Rehabilitation Council with the support of the Department of Jammu and Kashmir Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

The President Inaugurates National Immunization Day

The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil inaugurated the National Immunization Day by administering Polio Vaccines to children at Rashtrapati Bhavan on February 18, 2012. Over the last one year India has not recorded even a single case of polio. In the past a large share of polio cases in the world, were reported from India. The Nationwide Campaign begins tomorrow, and it is hoped that over the next two years, not a single case would be reported, so that India can be declared polio free in January 2014.

The President Greets Nation On International Women's Day

The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil greeted the nation through a Message on March 7, 2012 on the occasion of International Women's Day. The President also attended a function at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi for the presentation of the Stree Shakti Puraskar for the Year 2011 on the eve of Women's Day. The President also received a number of greetings on the occasion.

The President Meets 65th Batch of the Indian Revenue Service

The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil met Officer Trainees of the 65th Batch of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on March 14, 2012. Speaking to the Officers, the President said they should be prepared to face challenges at various stages of their careers. It would be important therefore for them to assess demands on their careers and how they prepared themselves.

The President presents Defence Investiture Awards

The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil presented the Defence Investiture Awards to Defence and Paramilitary personnel at a function in the Ashoka Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 14, 2012. The President presented 12 Param Vishisht Seva Medals, 1 Kirti Chakra (posthumously), 1 Uttam Yuddh Seva Medal, 3 Bar to Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, 26 Ati Vishisht Seva Medals, and 14 Shaurya Chakra Medals (3 of them posthumously).

The President Meets Participants of Operation Sadbhavana From Baramulla District

The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil met students from Baramulla District of Jammu and Kashmir at Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 19, 2012 that participated in the tour organized under Operation Sadbhavana by the 2nd Battalion of the Rajputana Rifles.During the tour the group of students visited Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Speaking to the students, the President urged them to use the opportunity to see and understand the country. She said India is a large and diverse country, but within diversity, is the important element of unity.

Indian Information Service (IIS) Probationers Call-on the President

The Probationers of the Indian Information Service (IIS) 2008, 2009 and 2010 Batches called-on the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 20, 2012. Speaking to the Officers the President said, said this Century is that of the Knowledge Society, and in a Knowledge Society, information is an important element. She said the work that the Officers would be doing, after completing their training was very important, as it directly deals with communicating the policies of the Government of India to the people.
