Modern Indian art

Untitled, K. Khosa, Oil on Canvas

Location: Reserve Collection

A gem in the Modern Indian art collection of Rashtrapati Bhavan is this untitled painting by K. Khosa. Two forms encased within white striped arrangement, float on the surface of his canvas. The reflection of these forms in deep chrome attributes a second dimension to his painting.

Khosa’s characteristic work is deep rooted in meta- reality where the subject is located in an imagined world. Chrome yellow background in subtle brushwork imparts prominence to the images in the foreground.

K. Khosa was born in 1940 and has been painting since 1962. Holder of a National Diploma in Art, he conceptualised the International Exhibition of Contemporary Cultural Complexes at the IGNCA in 1986.

His works of art have been featured in prestigious art publications and also form significant part of the collections of the National Gallery of Modern Art, Lalit Kala Academy, Sahitya Kala Parishad, International Airport Authority of India, etc.
