Task Force to Be Constituted for Universalisation of Roshni

A Task Force is in the process of being constituted for the universalisation of Roshni - the President's Estate green innovation for a sustainable urban habitat. The decision to constitute a Task Force was taken, after the day long Seminar held at Rashtrapati Bhavan yesterday. The Seminar was inaugurated by the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil. The Union Minister of New & Renewable Energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, the Union Minister of Urban Development Shri Kamal Nath and the Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Sheila Dixit were also took part in the inauguration of the Seminar.
The Seminar discussed the way forward for putting together the best practices followed by other gated communities in the country, so that this green innovation can be implemented more effectively and successfully in the future.
About 300 participants took part in the Seminar. Delegates included, officials of the Ministries of Urban Development, New & Renewable Energy, Water Resources, and Environment and Forests, Vice-Chancellors of Central Universities, Directors of IITs and IIMs, officials from the Government of NCT of Delhi, Central Public Sector Units such as Power Trading Corporation of India Ltd., the Director General of SCOPE and private sector companies such as UNITECH, DLF, RAHEJA Developers, as well as industry associations such as FICCI, ASSOCHAM and CII as well as consultants such as McKinsey & Co..
The new website of 'Roshni', www.roshni-rb.gov.in was also started on the occasion. This website has information on the initiative, a video gallery as well as a photo gallery.
