The President interacted with the students and said she felt honoured and also all the women of the country have been honoured by her election. Smt. Patil was responding to a question on how she felt on her election as the President. The President emphasised the importance of the education of the girl child to the group of students as the empowerment of women is the empowerment of the family. The President said she would like to see men and women working together to make the country great.
Smt. Patil added that India has a great heritage, culture and its various languages and religions are an example of unity in diversity. Inspite of the diversity, everybody is proud that they are Indians. Smt. Patil said the children from Manipur are also part and parcel of the country. She urged them to be responsible citizens and help the poor and physically challenged.
The students hailing from far-flung areas of Manipur have found this excursion tour to be a strong medium for overall development and are quite upbeat and enthusiastic to know about the people and culture of North India. The children will become messengers of peace and national amalgamation on their return to Manipur.
