President Meets Members of Akhil Bharatiya Aggarwal Sammelan

The President, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil met a delegation of the Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Aggarwal Sammelan at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President described the founder of the Aggarwal samaj Maharaja Agrasen as a social reformer and a human being of the highest order. Smt. Patil felt that some of the practices established by Maharaja Agrasen nearly 5000 years ago were similar to the principles of socialism. Maharaja Agrasen, she said, was also a social reformer as he stopped animal sacrifices in rituals practiced in those times. The President further added that today the Aggarwal samaj was actively participating in the development and progress of the nation and nation-building.

The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Sriprakash Jaiswal was also present on the occasion.
