President Of India To Visit Assam And Meghalaya

The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil shall be visiting Assam and Meghalaya on her first visit to the North Eastern region after assuming the office of the President.
During her five-day visit to Guwahati, Tezpur and Shillong, the President shall have a busy schedule which includes presentation of the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Award, and the Nirmal Gram Puraskar, the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Tezpur Medical College and the Greater Shillong Water Supply Phase Three Project. The President shall attend a Sainik Sammelan in Assam and a Civic Reception at Tura, West Garo Hills in Meghalaya in addition to attending the Centenary Celebrations of the Laban Bengali Girl's Higher Secondary School in Shillong. The President also inaugurates Baljek airport in West Garo Hills in Meghalaya.
Smt. Patil shall also be meeting and interacting with Women's Self Help Groups in both Assam and Meghalaya as well as some women NGOs.
The President leaves for the North East on October 19 and returns to New Delhi on October 24.
