President of India Condoles Passing Away of Ghazal Maestro Jagjit Singh

The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil has condoled the passing away of Ghazal Maestro, Shri Jagjit Singh.

In her condolence message to his wife, Smt. Chitra Singh, the President has said, "Known for his unique style of Ghazal singing which brought out the deepest and inner most feelings, Shri Jagjit Singh connected instantaneously with his audience wherever and whenever he performed in India or abroad. Audiences had two occasions at Rashtrapati Bhavan to feel his magic of singing, when he performed over the past few years. Popularly known as 'The Ghazal King', he also had a large heart due to which he also was known to give assistance to several philanthropic endeavours".
