President of India Condoles Passing Away of Arjun Singh

The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil has condoled the passing away of former Union Minister, Shri Arjun Singh.

In her condolence message, the President has said, "Shri Arjun Singhji was an experienced public personality. The important responsibilities given to him during his long career showed the acumen and abilities he possessed. He was therefore the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for three times and also the Governor of Punjab, during a period when the state was going through difficult times. His contributions to parliamentary debates were recognized through his being honoured with the Outstanding Parliamentarian Award in the year 2000. In his passing away the nation as well as the state of Madhya Pradesh has lost a towering personality."
