President Congratulates Kamalesh Sharma on His Selection as the Next Secretary General of the Commonwealth

The President Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil has congratulated India's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Shri Kamalesh Sharma on his selection by the Commonwealth Heads of Government as the next Secretary-General of the Commonwealth.

In her message, the President said, " Your elevation to this post is a recognition of your outstanding abilities, which you have shown during your long diplomatic career. The achievement is even more worthy as you will be the first ever Secretary-General of the Commonwealth from India, thus emphasizing the respect that our country has in this grouping of nations."
