President Condoles the Passing Away of Gayatri Devi

The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, has condoled the passing away of Shrimati Gayatri Deviji.

In a condolence message to the family members of Shrimati Gayatri Deviji, the President has said, "I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing away of Shrimati Gayatri Deviji. She was a multi-faceted personality, who made a deep impression on account of her work in public life, culture and art. She was a parliamentarian and a pioneer in the field of women's education, an issue to which she was deeply committed. In her passing away, the nation has lost a reputed and a well known personality of national stature".
