President Condoles Passing Away Of Former President Of Indonesia

The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil has condoled the passing away of the former President of Indonesia, Mr. Soeharto.

In her condolence letter to the President of Indonesia, Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, she has said, "Mr. Soeharto's contributions to the development of Indonesia as a vibrant economy have been widely acknowledged. His leadership role in the formation and growth of ASEAN made his a prominent voice in the South East Asian Region. As Chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in the early 1990's, he strove for greater unity among the developing countries and South-South Cooperation". Smt. Patil has also conveyed her deepest condolences to the people of Indonesia and to the bereaved family.
