Envoys Present Credentials to President President Emphasises on People-to-people Contacts for Enhancing Understanding

Four envoys presented their credentials to the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan here today.
The Envoys who presented their credentials were: - His Excellency Mr. Mark Sofer, the Ambassador of Israel, His Excellency Mr. Juan Alfredo Pinto Saavedra, the Ambassador of Colombia, His Excellency Mr. Bob H. Hiensch, the Ambassador of the Netherlands and His Excellency Mr. Hideaki Domichi, the Ambassador of Japan.
The President, during her interaction with the Heads of Missions, stated that India was committed to promoting peace and prosperity in the world and building friendly relations with all countries. The President emphasised the importance of people-to-people contacts for enhancing understanding of each others cultures and generating goodwill. Smt. Patil said areas of mutual cooperation should be identified and economic ties increased.
The credential presentation ceremony was attended by the senior members of the diplomatic missions, senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs and of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
