Speaking to the Officers, the President said the role of IAS Officers is important in administration and governance of the country. She said the job needs dedication and commitment and has to be done with transparency and accountability and by upholding ethics. The President observed that people are more aware now about their rights and they have expectations and aspirations. As a result the Officers will have to rise to these expectations. The President added that Government wants to see the empowerment of the disadvantaged sections of society. The Officers must ensure that laws and schemes are properly implemented. Unfortunately, the perception today is that schemes do not reach their benefits on time or in full measure, the President observed. Therefore, the Officers must ensure that such perceptions are dispelled and they should also use technology imaginatively.
