Rashtrapati Bhavan Launches A Multi Volume Documentation Project Of Rashtrapati Bhavan
Rashtrapati Bhavan : 09.07.2013
The President’s Secretariat has initiated a Multi Volume Documentation Project to record various facets of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The Multi Volume Documentation Project of Rashtrapati Bhavan (MVDPoRB) to be carried out in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) seeks to bring out volumes on (1) the making of Rashtrapati Bhavan – its architecture, archaeological significance etc.; (2) furniture, paintings and other artifacts; (3) flora and fauna; (4) the President’s Body Guard, including its Retreat at Dehradun and (5) the Presidential Retreats at Mashobra and Hyderabad.
A Steering Committee comprising Rashtrapati Bhavan representatives and eminent experts from various fields met today (July 9, 2013) to deliberate on the engagement of a Project Consultant for the above purpose.
Under the instructions of President Pranab Mukherjee, various steps have been initiated to preserve the rich cultural, historical and social legacy of Rashtrapati Bhavan. In this context, a need was felt for an authentic documentation of various facets of Rashtrapati Bhavan seamlessly inter-woven into one another. While at present there are several stand alone publications/documents on Rashtrapati Bhavan, there is no authentic, officially documented narrative with an underlying, unifying theme and perspective.
Recognizing IGNCA’s expertise as a centre encompassing the study and experience of all the arts, the President’s Secretariat has chosen to collaborate with the IGNCA for undertaking the above project.
