President of India Writes to President of Nepal Conveying Sympathies for Those Affected by the Earthquake

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee has written to His Excellency Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal conveying his sympathies for those affected by the earthquake that struck Nepal today (April 25, 2015).

In his message, the President said, "I was deeply concerned to hear of the disastrous earthquake that struck Kathmandu this morning, causing loss of lives and widespread damage to buildings and property.

On behalf of the Government and the people of India as well as on my own behalf, I extend our heartfelt condolences to your Government and the bereaved and displaced families. Please convey my sympathies to those affected and sincere wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured.

I am confident that the relief and rescue operations being conducted by your Government will be swift and successful. The Government and the people of India stand by the people of Nepal in this difficult hour and remain committed to assist in every way possible”.
