President of India Condoles the Passing Away of Lt. General J.F.R. Jacob

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee has condoled the passing away of Lt. General J.F.R. Jacob.

In a condolence message, the President has said, "I am sad to learn about the passing away of Lt. General J.F.R. Jacob.

Lt. Gen. J.F.R. Jacob served the Indian Army with distinction for more than three decades. He made his mark as Chief of Staff of the Indian Army’s Eastern Command and played a key role in India’s victory in the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971 and the liberation of Bangladesh. He also served the nation with distinction as Governor of the States of Goa and Punjab. For his meritorious services, he was honoured with Param Vishisht Seva Medal. His distinguished services to the nation and the Indian Army shall always be remembered”.
