President Delivers Dp Kohli Memorial Lecture on the Occasion of Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Cbi

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee delivered the 14th D.P. Kohli Memorial Lecture on 'Good Governance: Empowering Institutions, Society and Public' on the occasion of Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today (April 6, 2013) at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, the President said that the CBI has aptly chosen "Good Governance” as the topic for the 14th D.P. Kohli Memorial Lecture. He said that the concept has today gained greater importance and relevance than ever before because of the increasing recognition of its inseparable link to social welfare and public good. He said that lack of good governance has been identified as the root cause of many of the serious deficiencies in society. The President stated that good governance should be our unwavering goal. He said that it holds the key to sustainable development, inclusiveness and economic progress.

The 14th D.P. Kohli Memorial Lecture marked the inaugural ceremony of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of CBI. The President unveiled the CBI Golden Jubilee Logo today. The President also honoured former Directors of CBI and presented the President's Police Medals for Distinguished Services as also the DP Kohli Award for the Best Detective Constable of CBI on this occasion.

Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Shri V. Narayanasamy, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Prime Minister’s Office.
