Rashtrapati Bhavan : 07.01.2015
Shri Kailash Satyarthi presented his Nobel Peace Prize Medal to the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (January 7, 2015) and dedicated it to the nation.
Speaking on the occasion, the President said he was very happy Shri Sathyarthi received the Prize. He welcomed his gesture of presenting the medal and said the Nobel Prize medal will soon be kept on display in Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum.
The President recalled that Dr. C.V. Raman in his Nobel Prize acceptance speech had also dedicated his award to the nation and seen the Prize as a recognition of the scientific talent of India.
The President said this was an unusual gesture because most former winners of the Nobel Prize from India had kept their awards in their respective institutions, including Rabindra Nath Tagore, whose medal was housed in Viswa Bharati at Santiniketan.
The President commended Shri Satyarthifor the excellent work he was doing and urged him to continue his endeavours in this regard.
