Council Members Of Indian Statistical Institute Call On The President

Council Members of Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata called on the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (July 27, 2013).

Addressing the Council members, the President welcomed them to the historic building of the Rashtrapati Bhavan and said that the Institute has made exemplary contribution in research, teaching and application of statistics, natural sciences and social sciences. The draft Second Five Year Plan also known as Mahalanobis model was drafted at ISI. The President said that he had been associated with ISI for several years. He further stated that there were challenging times ahead as knowledge was expanding very fast and specialization was becoming the key word.

The President briefly interacted with the Council Members. Representatives of Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and Ministry of Finance were also present on the occasion.
